With a background in mechanical engineering and an MBA from Boston, Mike ended up at Golden State Foods…eventually rising to Managing Director and sent overseas to run operations in Sydney and Kuala Lumpur. After years of squeezing lettuce farmers to save fast food restaurants a few pennies in cost, Mike decided to ditch corporate life and break his back playing in the dirt for a giant pay cut.

A South Florida native, Matt ended up in freezing cold Chicago to pursue economics and derivatives trading. A CME floor trader for over a decade, he eventually made his way back to warmer climes and asked over one too many beers with Mike “how hard can farming be?”. Prior to 2011, he had never grown a plant in his life or owned an animal.
